A little about Crazy Bout Fishin'...    Capt. Clay Schoolfield                                                                                                            Life is hard and your job is demanding.  You face the challenges day in/day out.  You deserve a break away from the rat race from time to time.  Why not spend a day out on the water.  You can just relax and have a good time, and let me worry about the high gas prices, and where the trout are on any given day.

Crazy Bout Fishin’ Charters is not just about catching fish, but about giving you an outstanding day on the waters of our coastal marsh.  A day you will remember and cherish.  A day spent with your family (we love to fish with kids!) or just a couple of your good friends.  The most important thing for me is for you to have a great time on my boat.

The boat is a 23’ Sea Pro bay boat.  It is powered by a 225 hp outboard motor to get you to where the fish are in a jiffy.  However, I do not like to run at eye-tearing speeds.  I usually run at about 30mph.  This gets us there quick-enough, but is still a comfortable speed to enjoy the ride.  For trolling the banks for redfish... the boat has a 36volt Minn Kota trolling motor.  Electronics includes a state-of-the-art Garmin color gps and depthfinder.  Safety gear is provided including life jackets.  (however, you bring childrens life jackets)

We provide all the necessary fishing gear (both baitcasting or spinning reels) or if you like, you can use your own equipment.

95% of all our fishing is for speckled trout and redfish(with the occasional flounder), and a typical day for us would  be to try for specks first then go after the redfish.  But it really all depends on the tides.  When the fishing is tough,  we aren’t too good to soak some market bait for other fish such as sheephead or black drum.  Sometimes just anything to “stretch the line”.

I have been fishing saltwater for over 25 years and it is my passion.  I have fished the Venice/Buras arear now for about 15 years.  In the beginning I learned from several of this areas many excellent guides... many thanks to them for sharing their knowledge.  Because of this love of the coastal marsh, I quit my job and moved to Plaquemines Parish permanently.  I have made my home in Boothville, LA.

Presently we are fishing the Buras Area.  We fish on both the West Side of the River (from Joshua’s Marina and Delta Marina) and the East Side launching at Lloyd’s Riverside Landing, or Delta Marina in Empire.  If you are used to coming down towards Venice to fish, you know where the big American Flag is in Buras.  This is the place.  Please give us a call.  I would love to take you fishing...
